Article 4 Benign or Malign? A Syndrome of Acquired Hyperopia with Choroidal Folds
Background: Acquired hyperopia with choroidal folds is a benign syndrome characterized by flattening of the posterior pole in the affected eye, enlargement of the optic nerve complex, and the presence of a perineural space. The mechanisms responsible for these findings remain unclear, although choroidal folds have a number of possible etiologies, ranging from benign causes to malignant intraorb...
متن کاملNebria brevicollis (Fabricius, 1792) in North America, benign or malign? (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Nebriini)
Nebria brevicollis (Fabricius) is one of the most frequently encountered and widely distributed carabid beetles in Europe. Until recently, the only North American records were based on two single specimens, both from the 1930's in southeastern Canada. In 2008, this species was found at thirteen different sites in five counties in northwestern Oregon. As of the end of 2010, it has been found in ...
متن کاملTHYROID FOLLICULAR ADENOMA: BENIGN OR MALIGNANT?
Four patients are described in whom a follicular carcinoma developed following thyroidectomy for a benign follicular neoplasm. It is possible that the initial thyroid neoplasm was a well- differentiated follicular carcinoma which was microscopically indistinguishable from a benign adenoma. متن کاملHemosiderotic dermatofibroma*
We report a rare clinical case of hemosiderotic dermatofibroma in a 36-year-old female patient. The main dermatoscopic finding was represented by homogeneous blue-gray pigmentation. The aim of this report is to demonstrate the rarity of the lesion and the dermatoscopic importance it assumes by sharing a blue-gray homogeneous pattern with other benign and malignant lesions.

Dermatofibroma (DF) is usually confined to the dermis and the overlying epidermis is usually hyperplastic. Although DF with deep subcutaneous extension is commonly encountered, purely subcutaneous DF is uncommon. In this review, we describe a case of a 41-year-old male patient who presented with a painless, subcutaneous, hard papule on the left thigh. After the skin had been incised the lesion ...
